Mehfil is of Arabic origin and means "a (festive) gathering to entertain (or praise someone)".

Weak starters, over priced and minuscule. In fact, I thought they were embarrassing. I'd award 2 out of 5 for the starters; one of my friends was in agreement, the other thought a 3 was a more deserving score. Similar items can be bought from any Asian supermarket at around £4 for a bag of 20 frozen Samosas, Bhajis or Seekh Kebabs.

I'd score my Chicken Saag 4 out of 5. My two friends thought their dishes only merited 3 out of 5. The Chicken Balti was described as being typical of Bangladeshi restaurants - lacking in the associated heat and spicing found in Pakistani ones. True to form, copious amounts of chili and curry powder had been added to the Chicken Dopiaza to induce the madras heat.

Sundries are overpriced. The Naan breads were lightweight.

The restaurant interior is pleasant and one member of staff was particularly friendly. They scored rather highly on the SYIRometer - they even notched a first; asking if we'd like post meal drinks.

Celebrating it's 20th year, it was evident that it doesn't require our business… the place was lively and tables were turned around in double quick time. It's a sleek and well run operation.

It's obviously a restaurant that many of you enjoy; however, it won't feature on our list of must do's or restaurants that we will be returning to.

Neither a hit or a miss. Another middle of the road restaurant.
